It’s been a whirlwind of a summer around here!
Between family road trips, stroller strides classes, keeping up with a little boy transitioning to toddlerhood, and the unexpected passing of my grandma (one of my biggest supporters), I’ve been quietly working behind the scenes shifting the business in a new direction.
You see, last May, just two years after launching Davis Taylor Trading Company, I was on the verge of shutting everything down to focus solely on my Etsy vintage shop MAD x Vintage. Running two businesses while also being a stay at home mom is just not possible. Things were falling short, as I could not give my full attention to everything at once. After many sleepless nights and much contemplation, a new path began to formulate in my mind which merged the two business concepts into one.
MAD x Vintage was my first foray into the small business world, launching three and half years ago on Etsy. I absolutely love going to estate sales and garage sales finding interesting things for myself in addition to items to flip for extra cash. Over the years I have also found things that don’t fit into the vintage category that I could not list on Etsy. These are the things that you can now find through Davis Taylor Trading Company in different online marketplaces.
As the old saying goes one man’s trash is another man’s treasure and that is the premise behind our new direction. Helping to reduce waste by recycling products and connecting them with new owners for a second chance at usefulness. Our Mexican blankets are a natural fit for this new concept as they are made from recycled clothing fibers created from the overabundance of clothing thanks to the fast fashion world we live in today. Because of that we will continue to stock them and sell them here on our website (along with our roundies, beanies, and accessories until they run out of stock).

Our Mexican blankets have already been available on eBay for some time, but over the summer the eBay store has been updated to include a mix of preloved products (like sports memorabilia, electronics, books, clothing, dolls, etc..). The inventory is small at the moment, but will be growing and evolving as I find new and interesting things to add that are not vintage.
